MSC was founded in 1985 in Jacksonville, Florida, built on the foundation of delivering quality medical products and services with unsurpassed patient care, while being ever mindful of cost containment.  In 1987, MSC moved into larger offices as the business began to grow, finding a niche in selling TENS units to a primarily regional market. As growth continued, they identified an emerging market need and made the decision to market solely to the Workers' Compensation industry.

In 2002, MSC received its first outside investment from HIG Capital. This investment provided MSC the financial resources to enhance its technology and strengthen its infrastructure. In April 2004, MSC was turned over to new management. MSC’s goals included developing into a large national organization, and in March of 2005 Monitor Clipper Partners (MCP), a prominent private equity management company, assumed ownership, giving MSC the advantage of their strategy, expertise and relationships. With approximately 600 employees, MSC became the nation's leading Worker’s Compensation Services and Products Network Provider, servicing nearly 750,000 injured workers annually, and more than 600 clients nationwide.

In January of 2008, MSC purchased ZoneCare USA and its affiliates, Speedy Re-Employment MSA and Select MRI. ZoneCare USA is one of the largest providers of transportation and translation logistics services; Speedy Re-Employment provides Medicare Set-Asides (MSAs); SelectMRI provides imaging logistics services. These additional services further improved MSC’s ability to contain workers’ compensation medical costs and ensure quality delivery for its customers.

In order to provide an even greater focus and investment on the Medical Services and Products market, MSC sold its Pharmacy Division to Express Scripts in June of 2008. This transaction benefited both pharmacy and ancillary customers, giving pharmacy customers a combined strength of best practices from both MSC and Express Scripts, and a strong reputation for providing high quality PBM services.

In March, 2009, MSC purchased Optimal Transportation & Translation, securing an even greater geographic presence, particularly in the Northeast, Midwest, and West Coast.  To our customer, the combination of ZoneCare's innovative scheduling technology and Optimal's broadened network coverage will provide benefits of scale including best-in-class technology, superior account management, and back office efficiencies, in conjuction with our continued focus on customer service.

Today, MSC proudly focuses its energy and resources on providing Care Management; focusing on four distinct business areas: Catastrophic & Home Health Services, Equipment & Device Management, Select Diagnostic & Imaging Solutions, and Optimal Care Transportation & Translation Services.
