The Industrial Commission of Arizona has announced new requirements for a payor’s Explanation of Review related to reimbursements for physician services, and also clarified that if physicians contract for rates different from those set forth in the state’s fee schedule and the payor can demonstrate that it is entitled to take advantage of the contracted rates, the contracted rates will supersede the fee schedule rates. These changes will become effective on July 25, 2011.

Additional information regarding these changes is available at http://www.ica.state.az.us/Director/FeeScheduleWorkArea_2010/2010_FeeScheduleNewLanguageNotice.pdf.
