The Texas Division of Workers Compensation has published changes to paper and electronic billing requirements in its Rulebook Supplement, 2011-02. These changes, which became effective on August 1, 2011, will among other things: 

• ensure that workers’ compensation medical billings align with standards adopted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services (CMS);

• clarify standards, requirements and processes associated with electronic medical bill processing; and

• clarify field requirements for paper medical bills submitted by health care providers who are exempt from electronic submission.
